This time of year red fever grips Victoria. Anton and good mate Ange hit Port Phillip bay in search of some Snapper on Melbourne Cup Day in November. They were rewarded with a double hook up on fish around 5kg only moments after dropping anchor. Plus Anton shows you how to set up your rig to chase these red beauties.
Port Welshpool Victoria. This was a day none of us will ever forget. Every now and then it all falls into place. Mega Reds was filmed in Dec 2010. Special thanks to Dave Owens aka Super. Reels: Shimano Twin Power 10000SW Rods: Shimano T-Curve 15kg Bluewater Spin Line: Power Pro 30lb braid.
YouFishTV: Biggest soft plastic snapper ever filmed. Winga and Gawaine head to Arno Bay and fish with Fuzzell and they experience the most insane triple hook-up of MEGA snapper ever filmed. They land all three! Fuzzell's fish goes 14.5kgs. The other two beasts of 10.1 and 11.5kgs are battled simultaneously with one rod in each hand by Gawaine. Crazy stuff, from good mates, from an era long ago. Typical YouFishTV! Enjoy!
This shows the topside action from our trip out to FH-13 on March 17, 2013 (St. Patrick's Day). Mostly Red Snapper, but also some Sharks and 2 Redfish. Onboard was Wes Lyons of Ocean Springs, my 3 boys Ben, Paul, and Luke, as well as one of their friends, Adam Gaudet.
We head SW from Orange Beach, AL to some of the bluest near shore water I have seen in all my years fishing the Northern Gulf. The snapper were hungry, and we get a BIG surprise. The biggest red snapper we've ever landed.
